No grout.
No limits.
No comparison.

Mineral-based, applied by hand, and sealed for decades of use. Microcement transforms any surface into something that looks like it was always meant to be there.

Scroll

Ancient mineral.
Modern interior.

Microcement is a cement-based coating applied in ultra-thin layers, typically 2 to 3mm in total, that bonds directly over existing surfaces without any demolition. No rip-out. No new subfloor. No grout lines. Just one seamless, mineral surface from wall to wall.

It's been used in European architecture for decades, and for good reason: it's extraordinarily versatile, ages beautifully, and delivers a depth of character that no manufactured tile or painted wall can replicate.

The Material

What makes it extraordinary.

Every application is unique. The texture, the movement, the way light catches the surface. It cannot be mass-produced, and it cannot be copied. That's not a flaw. That's the point.

Microcement is a blend of cement, water-based resins, mineral pigments, and fine aggregates. In the right hands it becomes something else entirely: a surface that breathes, ages with grace, and rewards closer inspection.

Unlike tiles, there are no cold joints or interruptions. Unlike paint, it builds texture and physical depth. Unlike polished concrete, it can be applied to walls, furniture, and wet areas. Not just floors.

Applications

One material. Endless possibility.

Seamless microcement floor with LED strip lighting
01

Floors

Seamless, room-wide. Warm underfoot, durable under traffic. Applied directly over existing tiles or concrete. No jackhammer required.

02

Walls

The room transforms with the light. Microcement walls have a mineral depth that no paint achieves. Different at dawn than at dusk.

Wet Areas & Bathrooms

Grout lines, begone. Waterproofed and sealed microcement bathrooms are one of our most requested finishes, and one of the most dramatic transformations.

Benchtops & Joinery

Kitchen benchtops, vanity tops, feature joinery. Microcement on horizontal surfaces is detail work, and it demands someone who knows the difference.

The Clark Difference

Applied by someone who's done it across the whole country.

There's a generation of applicators who completed a weekend course and now offer microcement. You can usually tell within two years when the substrate fails, a crack telegraphs through, or the sealer lifts in the shower.

Johnathon Clark has applied microcement across residential and commercial projects in WA, VIC, NSW, and now Queensland. He knows what the QLD humidity does to certain sealers. He knows which substrates need how much prep time. He knows where the failures come from, because he's seen them, and he builds his process specifically to avoid them.

01

Substrate Assessment Before Anything

Every project starts with a proper substrate evaluation. If the base isn't right, the finish isn't possible. We tell you that upfront, not after the first coat.

02

Climate-Appropriate Sealing

The Sunshine Coast is not Melbourne. Humidity, UV, and coastal salt air all affect sealer performance. We spec accordingly.

03

No Shortcuts on Coats

Three coats, sanded between each. Not two. Not two with a heavy hand on the third. Three. The way the system is designed to be applied.

04

Direct, Not Sub-Contracted

Johnathon applies the product on every job. You'll never come home to a stranger holding a trowel with no idea of the project brief.

Available Finishes

Choose your surface language.

Three distinct finishes, each one achieved through the sealing system and final polishing technique. We'll present samples on-site so you can see exactly how each reads in your light, before a single coat is committed.

Matte

The most natural-looking finish. A flat, raw-mineral surface with visible trowel texture and depth. Ages gracefully, develops character over time, and feels organic in both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Floors Walls Feature Areas

Satin

A soft, understated sheen that adds just enough light reflection to feel polished without reading as glossy. The most versatile finish, equally at home on a bathroom wall, a living room floor, or a kitchen benchtop.

Floors Wet Areas Benchtops

Polished

A high-lustre architectural finish that catches and moves light across the surface. Dramatic in large open spaces. Transformative in feature areas. The choice of those who want a surface that becomes the room's defining element.

The Process

How craft happens.

Every microcement application follows the same methodical sequence. There are no shortcuts that don't eventually show themselves in the finish.

1

Site Assessment

Substrate condition, moisture levels, and structural movement are evaluated before any product is specified or priced.

2

Preparation

Surface preparation is where the job is won. Priming, crack repairs, and movement-joint detailing done properly before coat one.

3

Application, 3 Coats

Each coat is hand-trowelled, cured, and sanded before the next. No rushing the process. The texture is built in layers.

4

Sealing

The correct sealer for the application and environment, applied in multiple passes. Wet areas receive waterproofing below the microcement layer.

Common Questions

Straight answers. No runaround.

Can microcement go in a shower?
Yes, but it has to be done properly. The substrate must be structurally sound and movement-free, and a membrane waterproofing layer must be applied below the microcement. The top is then sealed with a suitable wet-area sealer. When it's done right, it performs beautifully and outlasts most tile jobs. When it's rushed, it fails. That's true of any wet-area finish.
Will it crack?
Microcement can reflect movement from the substrate below it, but it does not crack on its own. This is why substrate preparation is so critical. Existing cracks must be addressed, expansion joints must be honoured, and structurally unstable substrates must be fixed or replaced before application. We won't skip this step, even if it adds time to the project.
Can you apply it over existing tiles?
In most cases, yes, provided the tiles are well-bonded, grout lines are filled, and the surface is properly primed. This is one of microcement's biggest advantages: no demolition, no waste, no weeks of dusty ripping. We assess the tile substrate as part of every quote.
Is it slippery when wet?
A matte or satin finish floor has a natural grip that compares favourably to most tiles. A high-polish floor can be more slippery when wet, which is why we advise against polished finishes in high-traffic wet areas and always discuss appropriate finish selection based on your specific application.
How do I maintain it?
Regular sweeping and a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner is all it takes. Avoid harsh acids, bleach, and abrasive scrubbers. With penetrating mineral sealers, occasional re-sealing every few years maintains the surface. We walk every client through exactly what their specific finish requires at handover.
Can damage be repaired?
Yes. Small areas can be feathered, re-trowelled, and resealed. Because the finish is inherently textured and varied, well-executed repairs are virtually invisible. This is one of microcement's significant advantages over poured concrete: it's a serviceable, repairable surface, not a once-and-done pour.
How long does the job take?
Timing depends on the area and complexity. A typical bathroom takes 3 to 5 days from prep to seal. Larger floor areas may span a week. We give you a realistic timeframe at quoting, not an optimistic one designed to win the job, but the actual time the process requires to be done properly.
Do you service areas outside the Sunshine Coast?
Yes. We're based on the Sunshine Coast and cover the full South East Queensland corridor: Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and surrounds. Travel to regional areas is considered on a project basis. Get in touch and we'll be upfront about what travel costs are involved.
